STC takes steps to repossess landed property in Kumasi rented to private individual

The Inter-City STC Coaches Limited (TC) is repossessing a bungalow in Kumasi. This property was leased to a private individual for 50 years.

The bungalow is located in the Oforikrom Municipality. It was used for STC guests and officers visiting the city. This arrangement helped save costs for the company.

However, the facility was abandoned. It was later given to a hotel owner. An agreement allowed the hotel owner to demolish and redevelop it.

Nuru Hamidan, Deputy Managing Director of STC, expressed dissatisfaction with the previous government's handling of this property. He stated that they gave away the entire structure for a 50-year lease to build a hotel.

Hamidan emphasized that STC's main role is transport services, not renting out government properties. He mentioned ongoing negotiations with the private individual to reclaim the property for its original use.

Additionally, he noted that about two-thirds of STC's 22.68 acres have been encroached upon by various structures. The company plans to take action against this trend.
