Sabrina Elba partners with World Vision to promote ethical sourcing and sustainability in Northern Ghana

Sabrina Dhowre Elba is an actor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She serves as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Sabrina advocates for sustainable development, women’s empowerment, and ethical sourcing.

Recently, she traveled to Northern Ghana with World Vision International. There, she learned about Women's Shea groups promoting sustainable practices. She also discovered how Fair Trade helps producers in developing countries.

Sabrina's visit was part of a partnership between S'ABLE Labs and World Vision. S'ABLE Labs is a skincare brand she co-founded. This collaboration aims to promote sustainable and ethical sourcing to empower communities.

World Vision has 75 years of humanitarian work globally and 45 years in Ghana. Their mission focuses on tackling poverty and injustice for children and families. They help communities reach their full potential through local partnerships.

During her visit, Sabrina emphasized the power of communities. She stated that their partnership can uplift people through ethical sourcing. "We support the incredible women who are vital to agriculture," she said.

In Gbumgbum Yemo, Sabrina observed the manual Shea production process. Local women harvest Shea butter using traditional methods passed down through generations. She engaged with these women to learn about their challenges.

Another highlight was learning about Fairtrade certification in Malishegu. Women’s Shea Processing cooperatives benefit from this system by receiving fair prices for their products. This empowers local workers, especially women, ensuring equitable pay.

"Fairtrade ensures dignity and fairness," said Sabrina during her visit. "Supporting ethical sourcing creates lasting change."

Sabrina also visited Bugulung to learn about mechanized shea butter processing. While many still process manually, mechanization improves efficiency and quality. World Vision supports these women's groups with equipment and training.

This mechanization can revolutionize the local economy by increasing earnings for women. It also provides better access to education and healthcare for their children.

Sabrina's advocacy aligns with World Vision's efforts against climate change threats to agriculture. The partnership between S'ABLE Labs and World Vision connects consumers with real stories behind products.

They aim to showcase the impact of ethical sourcing without promoting overconsumption through influencer marketing. Instead, they focus on authentic storytelling about women's groups in Northern Ghana.

Through her platform, Sabrina highlights the importance of ethical sourcing's human impact. "It’s not just about buying a product; it’s about supporting communities," she said.

This partnership furthers S'ABLE Labs’ mission for sustainable wellness products while raising awareness of fair trade practices. Sabrina believes more people will recognize the value of supporting sustainability through purchasing decisions.

As her trip concludes, Sabrina shares a clear message: "Our choices impact communities far beyond our own." Ethical sourcing is a shared responsibility that can lead to a more inclusive world.

This collaboration highlights community-led solutions and ethical business practices’ role in sustainability. Such initiatives have limitless potential for positive global impact.
