Security forces, comprising police and military personnel, have been deployed to Nkwanta South in the Oti Region following violent clashes over a chieftaincy dispute in the Tuobodom community on January 16, 2025.

A 43-year-old woman sustained gunshot wounds and is receiving treatment at St. Joseph Catholic Hospital.

The violence also resulted in the burning of two houses, displacing families and heightening fear among residents.

Member of Parliament Felix Kwakye Ofosu confirmed additional troop deployments via social media, emphasizing efforts to restore law and order.

The incident has escalated tensions in the district, with authorities urging calm as they work toward resolving the dispute.
