Tidal waves struck Agavedzi in the Ketu South Municipality on February 1, displacing 129 residents and destroying 15 buildings.

NADMO’s Emergency Operations Director, Paschal Agbagba, confirmed that 21 households were affected as high sea tides flooded the community.

In response, the Volta Regional Minister and NADMO donated essential relief items, including food, water, and blankets, while MP Abla Dzifa Gomashie provided maize to support victims.

Some displaced residents have sought refuge in nearby towns, while concerns grow over cemetery damage, with bodies being hastily reburied.

Officials emphasize that a permanent solution lies in relocating residents or completing the sea defence project.
