A trader has appeared in court for allegedly injuring a carpenter.
Adam Zakaria, 42, is accused of thrusting his walking stick into Eric Djan's left eye.
Zakaria had paid Djan GH₵200 to fix his leaking roof. However, Djan did not complete the work.
Zakaria pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing harm.
Judge Isaac Addo granted him bail set at GH₵50,000 with two sureties. He also ordered the prosecution to follow disclosure rules.
Chief Inspector Jonas Lawer stated that Djan lives in Danquah Circle, Osu. He received payment from Zakaria in October 2024 but failed to fix the leak.
On January 20, 2025, Zakaria confronted Djan at Danquah Roundabout about the delay.
Djan claimed he had been unwell and could not finish the job.
This led to a quarrel between them. During the argument, Zakaria allegedly thrust his walking stick into Djan's left eye.
Djan was bleeding heavily and was taken to Police Hospital. Doctors found his vision blurred and recommended surgery.
Zakaria was arrested on May 8, 2025.
