The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued a final warning to traders. They occupy streets, medians, and other unauthorized spaces in the Central Business District. Traders must stop their operations by Monday, May 5, 2025.
This warning follows previous cautions about indiscriminate trading activities. Such activities have congested the market area.
In a statement, KMA advised traders to “cease forthwith.” This is part of efforts to ensure easy movement for people and vehicles.
The assembly reminded traders of the May 1, 2025 deadline. They were asked to move their wares and tables from the streets.
Motorists are also warned against parking in the Central Business District (CBD). This includes those who trade from vehicles.
Affected areas include Adum, Kejetia, Pampaso, Dr. Mensah, and Dunkirk. Other areas include Roman Hill, around Kejetia Market, Adehyeman, and Alarba.
Trading in unauthorized areas of the CBD will be prohibited after May 5, 2025. Traders must remove wooden and metal structures from their locations as directed.
The KMA urges all traders to comply with these directives. Failure to do so may result in forced ejection from these areas.
