The Upper West Regional Police Command has announced a successful arrest.
They arrested and prosecuted a suspect involved in motorbike robberies.
The convict is 20-year-old Nawaf Abdulai. He was caught after a robbery on March 6, 2025.
Abdulai and an accomplice, Awal Abass, robbed victims of two motorbikes. The stolen bikes were a Haojue and a Luojia.
Police quickly responded and arrested Abdulai at his home on March 8, 2025. He confessed to the crime during the investigation.
The case went to the Wa Circuit Court. On April 7, 2025, the court reached a decision.
Judge Jonathan Avoogo sentenced Abdulai to 15 years in prison. This ruling shows the judiciary's commitment to strict penalties for crime.
The police released Abdulai’s photograph due to his legal conviction under Ghanaian law.
A police statement said, “The court’s decision brings closure to the case.” It also serves as a warning to others considering similar crimes.
The Upper West Regional Police praised their officers' diligence and public cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to keeping the region safe.
Efforts are ongoing to find the second suspect, Awal Abass. The police encourage anyone with information to come forward.
