UTAG-UEW demand thorough invetigation of the gruesome murder of colleague

The University Teachers Association of Ghana, Winneba Chapter (UTAG-UEW), is in mourning. They are outraged by the murder of Professor Mawuadem Koku Amedeker. His body was found at his home in Gyahadze, a suburb of Winneba.

Professor Amedeker, a lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), went missing for weeks. His remains were discovered on May 22 under shocking circumstances.

In a press release on May 25, UTAG-UEW called the incident "devastating." They said it has shaken both the UEW community and the nation.

The statement highlighted that Prof Amedeker was a respected academic. His violent death has caused deep grief among colleagues, students, and staff.

UTAG-UEW expressed sympathy for his family and friends during this tough time. They extended their condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy.

The association thanked the national leadership of UTAG for their support. They appreciated the solidarity shown during this difficult period.

UTAG-UEW commended the Ghana Police Service for quickly starting investigations. They also noted that a suspect has been arrested.

The association urged police to intensify efforts to catch all involved in this crime. They want justice served without delay.

They reaffirmed their readiness to assist with the investigation. This case is not just about justice for Prof Amedeker but also about safety in academic spaces nationwide.
