The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested twenty-six people for drug-related offences. This followed an intelligence-led operation on Saturday, May 24, 2025. The operation took place at the Aflao border in the Volta Region.
A press release from DSP Felix Danku confirmed the arrests. The suspects were caught at various locations during a crackdown on drug peddlers. This effort targeted criminal activities in the border area.
The operation resulted in several seizures, including:
- Twenty wraps of suspected Indian hemp.
- Twelve sachets of Tramadol tablets.
- Dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp in a rubber bucket.
- Cash totaling GHS 30,558 and 17,500 CFA.
- Six drug-laced toffees.
- Eight creams suspected to contain narcotics.
- Twenty-six compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp hidden in a fertilizer sack.
The suspects are now in police custody. They will face charges in court soon.
