The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, is committed to boosting tourism. This follows a visit from the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Abla Dzifa Gomashie.
The visit was part of a larger tour across the Volta Region. It aimed to engage local leaders on strategies for tourism development.
Minister Gomashie met with Minister Gunu before touring the region. The delegation included Deputy Minister Yussif Jajah and various tourism agency directors. They were welcomed at the Regional Coordinating Council in Ho.
Discussions focused on collaboration between the Ministry and local assemblies. They talked about branding, packaging, and marketing the region's cultural and ecological assets.
Madam Gomashie emphasized support for local assemblies to enhance tourism appeal. She mentioned connectivity and national pride as key factors for success.
James Gunu identified accessibility as a major challenge for tourism growth. He noted that many attractions are beautiful but hard to reach. Measures are being taken to improve access to these sites.
The visit included a session at Praise City Eco Park and Resort, known as Point and Kill. This facility features attractions like zip lines, boat rides, and wildlife encounters.
Mr. Gunu highlighted the eco-park's potential for eco-tourism and adventure travel. He praised public-private partnerships in achieving this vision.
He thanked the Tourism Ministry for their timely visit. Mr. Gunu pledged commitment to advancing tourism for socio-economic development.
“The Volta Region is ready to partner with the Ministry,” he stated. They aim to turn natural and cultural assets into world-class destinations.
These efforts align with the Visit Volta campaign, promoting unique heritage to attract tourists.
