Residents of Ho in the Volta Region have been desperately seeking water at old wells and abandoned boreholes since New Year’s Day, following a major fault at the Kpeve Water Headworks pump.
The crisis has disrupted water supply to several areas, including Peki, Have, and Ziavi.
Despite assurances from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) on January 2 that repairs were underway, the situation remains dire, with dried-up wells and worsening conditions.
GWCL engineers from Tema and Kpong have joined regional teams to resolve the issue, but no timeline for restoration has been provided.
Businesses, including chop bars, have been severely impacted, while hospitals are relying on reservoirs.
Public frustration is mounting as residents resort to fetching wastewater and traveling to distant villages for water.
