Wenchi: Unidentified youth beat Police commander to pulp, release 8 inmates

Unidentified youth in Wenchi, Bono Region, have attacked DSP Nana Boakye Yiadom, the Municipal Police Commander, leaving him severely injured and freeing eight inmates from custody.

The chaos erupted on Tuesday morning when DSP Yiadom detained a pregnant woman after failing to find her husband, a suspect, in the Tohaba area.

Enraged by the arrest, the youth stormed the police station, vandalizing property, including the commander’s vehicle, electronics, and office equipment.

Amid the attack, they broke into the cells and released eight inmates.

DSP Yiadom is receiving treatment at the Bono Regional Teaching Hospital as investigations into the incident continue.

The police are yet to apprehend those responsible for the attack and destruction.
