World Vision Ghana has organized training on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). This event aimed to enhance healthcare safety and prevent infectious diseases. Over 50 frontline health workers attended the training in Agortime Ziope District, Volta Region.
The training was held in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service. Participants included nurses, midwives, community health officers, and laboratory technicians. They came from various Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and health centers.
This initiative is part of World Vision’s effort to build resilient healthcare systems. It addresses public health crises like cholera, Ebola, monkeypox, and COVID-19. Mr. Eric Opoku Agyarko emphasized that infection prevention is a life-saving responsibility.
The training featured IPC specialists from the Ghana Health Service. Mrs. Joyce Amponsah and Mrs. Rejoice Anku led practical sessions on hand hygiene and waste management. They also covered proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and environmental cleanliness.
Miss Mabel Offeibea, a midwife at Akewtteh CHPS compound, found the training valuable. She noted that it reminded participants of best practices in healthcare settings. “Every step is critical,” she said about washing hands and disposing of medical waste safely.
District Health Director Mr. Emmanuel Ayaanga Ayaamga expressed gratitude to World Vision for their support. He promised to share the knowledge gained with other healthcare workers and community volunteers.
World Vision Ghana remains committed to reducing preventable illnesses among children and vulnerable populations. They aim to strengthen local health systems through education and partnerships.
As infections threaten public health, this initiative highlights the importance of collaboration in safeguarding lives.
