Asante Kotoko's hopes for a strong finish in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League ended in disappointment. They lost 3-1 to newly-promoted Vision FC on Sunday. The match took place at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex.
Kotoko took the lead in the 38th minute. Emmanuel Antwi scored with a deflected shot that beat the goalkeeper. However, Vision FC quickly responded. Substitute Edmond Asante equalized just two minutes later.
In the second half, Kotoko struggled to regain control of the game. Their poor performance was punished in the 81st minute. Frank Duku scored to put Vision FC ahead.
Duku added another goal deep into stoppage time. This sealed his brace and marked Kotoko's first defeat under interim coach Abdul Karim Zito.
With this result, Kotoko finished fifth in the league, far from title contention. Their last chance for silverware is in the MTN FA Cup final against Golden Kicks on June 15.
Vision FC concluded their debut Premier League season strongly, finishing in 11th place with 45 points.
