2025 Unity Cup: Black Stars coach Otto Addo says Afena-Gyan must 'show what he can do' to keep Ghana

Ghana Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has spoken about Felix Afena-Gyan. He said Afena-Gyan must prove himself at the Unity Cup in London. This is important for him to keep his spot on the team.

Addo faced criticism for including Afena-Gyan in the squad. The Juventus Next Generation forward last played for Ghana in 2022 against Nicaragua. He has one goal and one assist in seven games for the Black Stars. Afena-Gyan will join the team today in London.

“There are many young players, and he’s one of them,” Addo said. “He did well before, so we want to give him another chance.” Addo noted that Afena-Gyan's career hasn't gone as expected. He added that ups and downs are normal in football.

Afena-Gyan has scored six goals in 30 appearances for his Serie C club. Ghana will start their Unity Cup campaign on Wednesday against Nigeria. Their second game is on May 31 against either Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago.
