2025 Unity Cup: Ghana FA Spox provides update from Black Stars camp ahead of Nigeria game tomorrow

Henry Asante Twum, spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association, shared updates on the Black Stars. They are preparing to face Nigeria tomorrow in the 2025 Unity Cup tournament.

The four-time African champions want a full-strength squad. However, they will miss key players like Kudus Mohammed and Thomas Partey due to injuries. Kamaldeen Sulemana is also out. Players from Turkey and Major League Soccer cannot join because their leagues are still ongoing.

The team opened camp last Monday with some new faces. Some players who have been away from the national team have returned as well. PAOK FC's Baba Rahman is back after over a year away. Italian striker Felix Afena-Gyan returns after almost three years.

Majeed Ashimeru and Salis Abdul Samed are also available for selection. In an interview with Bill Eshun on TV3's Sports Daily, Henry Asante Twum discussed their preparations since arriving in the UK.

He said, "We lost our last friendly, so we want to win this time." He acknowledged the rivalry with Nigeria and emphasized its importance for fans. "It's a friendly but not really a friendly," he added. The team aims to make their supporters proud despite the challenges ahead.

Ghana will start their Unity Cup campaign against Nigeria tomorrow. Their second game will be on May 31 against either Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago.
