Black Queens forward Abigail Kofi Kim aims to impress in her debut. She is preparing for Ghana’s senior women’s national team ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The 26-year-old striker had a standout season with Ankara BB Fomget in Turkey. She scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists, helping her team win the Turkish Women’s Super League title. Her impressive performance earned her a call-up from head coach Kim Lars Björkegren for an upcoming friendly against Ivory Coast.
“I’ll try my best and score as many goals as I can,” Abigail said. “There were some tough games in Turkey, but we ended up as champions.” She expressed pride in helping her team achieve that milestone.
Abigail was born in Liberia and raised in the United States. She has Ghanaian roots through her father and identifies strongly with her heritage. “My father is Ghanaian, and my brothers live there,” she shared. “I visited Ghana once, and it was amazing to see my family.”
Her inclusion comes at a crucial time for Ghana as they prepare for WAFCON 2024. The team hopes to secure its first continental title and return to the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Abigail's versatility, pace, and goal-scoring instincts make her a valuable addition to the Black Queens setup. She is determined to carry her club momentum onto the international stage.
