Asante Kotoko coach Abdul Karim Zito has denied claims of conflict.
Fans recently suggested a rift between attackers Albert Amoah and Kwame Opoku. They believe the players are too selfish during matches.
These rumors started after Opoku missed a pass to Amoah in a win over Aduana Stars. A similar situation occurred in their goalless draw with Hearts of Oak.
Coach Zito dismissed the idea of rivalry between the two players. He stated that both want to score and feel important for the team.
Zito explained that their relationship on the field is strong. He noted that self-centeredness, not rivalry, is the issue.
“During our first match against Aduana Stars, Amoah should have passed to Opoku,” he said. “It’s not about rivalry; it’s about lack of focus.”
He emphasized that everyone wants to score goals and feel valued. In Europe, assists are highly regarded for this reason, he added.
