Baba Rahman returns to Black Stars squad ahead of 2025 Unity Cup in London

Ghana international Baba Rahman has been recalled to the Black Stars. This marks his return after a long absence from the national team.

The experienced left-back plays for PAOK Thessaloniki in Greece. He is part of Otto Addo’s 26-man squad for the 2025 Unity Cup. The tournament will take place in London from May 28 to June 4. Ghana will play Nigeria in their first match at Brentford Community Stadium.

Rahman's inclusion strengthens Ghana’s defense. The 30-year-old brings valuable experience and stability on the flanks. His last game for the Black Stars was during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Injuries and inconsistent club form kept him out since then.

Recently, Rahman regained fitness and played well for PAOK in the Greek Super League. His performances have caught the attention of national team selectors again.

Rahman debuted internationally in 2014 and has over 40 caps for Ghana. He has participated in multiple Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualification campaigns. His return adds competition at left-back, where Gideon Mensah and Patrick Kpozo have also played recently.

The Unity Cup will help prepare the Black Stars for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers starting in September. Ghana will face Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica in this high-intensity tournament aimed at uniting African communities in the UK.

Baba Rahman joins other returning players like Inaki Williams, Kwame Opoku, and Benjamin Asare for this tournament. The Black Stars are expected to arrive in London soon to prepare for their opener against Nigeria on May 28.
