EXCLUSIVE: Aboubakar Ouattara set to be elevated to technical director role at Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara will soon become the technical director. This change follows the expected appointment of Maxwell Konadu as the new Head Coach.

Ouattara has been in charge during the 2024–25 Ghana Premier League season. He will step aside after the season ends on June 8, 2025. His transition to the new role is anticipated once the campaign concludes.

Hearts of Oak has reportedly reached an agreement with Maxwell Konadu. The club aims to finalize this deal quickly to avoid disruptions. They are preparing for a technical reshuffle.

Under Ouattara, Hearts of Oak is currently in fifth place. They have a strong chance to finish in the top four on the final matchday. While his leadership has provided stability, the club seeks fresh energy and experience.

Hearts have not won a league title since 2021, increasing pressure to break this drought. Club executives believe Konadu is the right choice for revitalization. He has extensive coaching experience, including roles with Ghana’s U-23 team and assistant coach positions with the Black Stars.

Konadu also led Nsoatreman FC to an FA Cup victory, showcasing his success at various levels. This move reflects a strategic restructuring within the club. Ouattara's new role will focus on overseeing football philosophy, youth development, and long-term planning.
