FC Samartex, the reigning champions of Ghana, have signed goalkeeper Sabi Acquah Ferdinand. This move is ahead of the 2025/26 football season and awaits an official announcement from the club.
The 28-year-old is one of the most experienced players in Ghana's top league. He last played for Nsoatreman FC, where he joined on a two-year deal last year.
Ferdinand started strong at Nsoatre this season but faced challenges. He struggled to take the starting position from club captain Daniel Afadzwu.
He made eight appearances this season, with seven in the league and one in the CAF Confederations Cup qualifying round. During these matches, he conceded ten goals but kept two clean sheets.
After missing almost half of the season, Ferdinand is back in action. He signed with FC Samartex after completing his medicals last Thursday. The Timber Giants worked hard to finalize this deal despite competition from Hearts of Oak. They aim to build a strong team for the upcoming season.
