EXCLUSIVE: Frederick Asare to leave Asante Kotoko in June

Frederick Asare, the agile goalkeeper, will leave Asante Kotoko. He has been with the club for three years. His contract expires in June 2025.

Asare, 25, lost his starting position to Mohammed Camara. He has chosen not to extend his contract after failing to reach an agreement with the club. The Interim Management Committee (IMC) tried to negotiate a new deal but talks stalled over financial issues.

Asare joined Asante Kotoko on a free transfer in 2022. He previously played for Accra Lions and helped them qualify for the Premier League in 2021.

This season, he has struggled for playing time. He made only 15 Premier League appearances, keeping seven clean sheets and conceding 12 goals.

Last year, Asare received his first call-up to Ghana's senior national team. However, he has yet to debut for the Black Stars due to limited playing time at his club.

Reports indicate that Asare and his team are exploring options in East Africa or Europe. They are preparing for the upcoming summer transfer window.
