Eddie Nketiah: 'Playing for Ghana now will make sense'

Crystal Palace forward Eddie Nketiah is interested in playing for Ghana. This comes after he faced several snubs from the English national team.

Nketiah was born in Lewisham, Greater London. He has Ghanaian parents and can still play for Ghana. He has represented England at all international levels.

In 2023, Nketiah received his first senior call-up to the English team. He was invited for matches against Scotland and Ukraine but did not play. Since then, he has not been considered again.

The Ghana Football Association has tried to recruit him multiple times. However, Nketiah turned down their offers on several occasions.

In a recent interview on The Beautiful Game podcast, he shared his feelings about representing Ghana. “When I was younger, playing for England made sense,” he said. “But if Ghana calls me up, I’ll be there.”

Currently, Nketiah is struggling for playing time at Selhurst Park. He has only one goal and one assist in 25 matches this season.
