FC Kaiserslautern release Ghanaian winger Aaron Opoku

Aaron Opoku has left FC Kaiserslautern after three seasons.

The Ghanaian winger is now a free agent ahead of the summer transfer window. He is being pursued by St. Louis City SC in Major League Soccer (MLS).

A club statement confirmed his departure: "Attacker Aaron Opoku is leaving 1. FC Kaiserslautern after three years." His contract expires at the end of the season.

During his time with Kaiserslautern, Opoku made 61 competitive appearances. This includes 55 matches in the second division and six DFB Cup games. He contributed to 17 goals, scoring seven and providing ten assists.

The club thanked him for his service: "Thank you for three years with the FCK logo on your chest." They wished him well for the future.

Opoku made over 60 appearances during his time at Fritz-Walter-Stadion. Despite playing for Germany's U-19 and U-20 teams, he remains eligible to represent Ghana internationally.
