Former Asante Kotoko striker Solomon Sarfo Taylor has won a partial victory. This comes from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The case began with a complaint from Asante Kotoko. The club accused Sarfo Taylor of double registration. This led to disciplinary action by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and his suspension. Sarfo Taylor appealed the GFA Appeals Committee’s decision on 29 May 2024. He took the matter to CAS on 5 November 2024.
On 29 April 2025, CAS made its decision. They set aside the GFA Appeals Committee's ruling. However, they dismissed Sarfo Taylor’s claim for additional damages against the GFA. The court ordered the GFA to pay CHF 4,000 (about GHS 65,000) to Sarfo Taylor for legal fees and expenses.
Additionally, the GFA must cover 80% of total arbitration costs. Sarfo Taylor will pay the remaining 20%. The ruling was signed by CAS panel president Espen Auberg and arbitrators Kwadjo Adjepong and Christian Visser. This decision brings closure to a contentious dispute and partially vindicates Sarfo Taylor, who has always maintained his innocence.
