GFA initiates legal action to recover $842,173 debt from StarTimes

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is taking legal action. They want to recover USD 842,173.36 from StarTimes. This amount is owed after their media rights agreement ended.

Negotiations to renew the broadcast partnership failed in March 2025. The GFA has officially informed StarTimes about the termination. They have also started formal legal processes with their legal counsel.

StarTimes was the GFA’s broadcast partner from 2017 to the end of the 2023/24 season. They provided coverage for the Ghana Premier League and other competitions. However, unresolved financial issues from the previous contract led to this legal action.

The GFA is committed to protecting its commercial engagements. They will continue seeking transparent partnerships that benefit football in Ghana.
