The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has charged four Berekum Chelsea players. This follows their FA Cup semi-final against Asante Kotoko at Tarkwa TNA Stadium.
The players are Mizack Afriyie, Stephen Amankona, Zakaria Fuseini, and Seidu Mohammed. They are accused of breaching Article 12(1)(i) of the GFA Disciplinary Code. They also violated Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.
The GFA stated that the charges relate to the players' behavior after the match. Their actions reportedly brought the game into disrepute. The players confronted match officials aggressively after their 1-0 loss to Asante Kotoko.
The statement described their approach as angry and confrontational. They used inappropriate gestures, which constitute misconduct.
The charged players must respond to the allegations by Thursday, May 15, 2025. If found guilty, they may face fines or suspensions. This could impact Berekum Chelsea's preparations for upcoming domestic matches.
Asante Kotoko has secured a place in the final. They will compete against Golden Kick FC for the FA Cup title.
