I am fine with Kwame Opoku’s performance against Nigeria - Karim Zito

Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito is pleased with Kwame Opoku's performance. Opoku played for the Black Stars in their 2-1 loss to Nigeria in the Unity Cup. He started the match but was substituted at halftime. Brandon Thomas Asante replaced him and scored Ghana’s only goal. Cyriel Dessers and an own goal by Razak Simpson secured Nigeria's victory.

Zito defended Opoku amid criticism of his performance. He noted that Opoku did not receive enough service during the game. Zito praised Opoku’s constant movement and pressing, which are important in modern football.

He explained, "We need to consider how many passes he received." Zito compared it to preparing a meal without ingredients. "Who provided him a pass that he didn't score? He pressed well and created opportunities."

Zito acknowledged that while Opoku ran tirelessly, he did not play as expected. "If he had scored, we would say he performed well," he added. He emphasized that pressing is crucial in today's football.

Zito expressed hope that if Opoku brings confidence to the league, it will benefit the team.
