Kylian Mbappe is not bitter about Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League victory. He left PSG for Real Madrid less than a year ago.
Mbappe was PSG's record goalscorer but never won the Champions League. He played seven seasons with the French club before leaving on a free transfer in July 2024.
PSG won their first Champions League title by defeating Inter Milan 5-0 on May 31. Mbappe stated, "I didn’t leave too soon; my story with PSG was over." He added, "I am not bitter; I had reached the end of the road."
At a news conference before France’s Nations League match against Germany, he said, "I tried everything. It was destiny that meant it had to happen without me."
He expressed happiness for PSG's success, saying they deserved it after many struggles. "They’re the best team in Europe," he noted.
Mbappe recalled his own experiences in the Champions League with PSG. He played in every stage except for the final victory.
The closest he came to winning was as a runner-up against Bayern Munich in 2020. Last season, Real Madrid was knocked out by Arsenal in the quarter-finals and ended without a trophy.
Despite this, Mbappe scored 31 La Liga goals and won the European Golden Shoe.
