Maxwell Boakye on cloud nine after winning Burkina Faso Premier League goal king

Maxwell Boakye, a former Hearts of Oak attacker, is thrilled. He became the top scorer in the Burkina Faso Premier League.

Boakye played well for AS Douanes, scoring 14 goals. This achievement earned him the goal king prize in his first season.

He outperformed Ibrahim Sow and Ali Barro from CF Rahimo FC. Mohamede Borro from ASF Bobo-Dioulasso and Pantoulou Diarra from Salitas FC also scored 9 goals each.

In addition to his league goals, Boakye netted 4 more in the FA Cup. This brought his total to 18 goals across all competitions.

“I’m extremely happy to win the topscorer award,” he said. “The race was competitive, but I thank God for this win.” He promised to do even better next season.

The 31-year-old striker joined AS Douanes and quickly became essential to the team. He scored crucial goals that helped them finish fifth in the league.
