Maxwell Konadu emerges as frontrunner for Hearts of Oak coaching job

Hearts of Oak are close to naming Maxwell Konadu as their new head coach. He is the frontrunner among three candidates for the position.

Local media reports say the club’s board prefers Konadu to succeed Aboubakar Ouattara. Ouattara is expected to leave at the end of this season. This decision indicates a change after another disappointing campaign.

Konadu last managed Black Leopards in South Africa. He left that club earlier this year under unclear circumstances. Now, he is seen as the ideal candidate for a technical overhaul next season.

Other candidates include former Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and ex-Hearts boss Samuel Boadu. Reports from Opemsuo Radio suggest Konadu leads in the selection process, but Ogum remains a strong contender.

Currently, Hearts of Oak sit fifth in the Ghana Premier League with 52 points. They will face Legon Cities in their next match. The club will finish this season without any silverware for the second year in a row.
