Kennedy Boakye Ansah, Brands Manager of Nations FC, has made serious allegations. He claims Basake Holy Stars used a vehicle donated by the Ghana Football Association (GFA). This vehicle allegedly transported armed individuals to a recent match.
The incident took place at the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena. It was during a Week 33 fixture of the Ghana Premier League. Boakye Ansah described these individuals as heavily built men with knives and guns. Their presence created a threatening environment for Nations FC.
Due to security concerns, Nations FC abandoned the match in the first half. They walked off after conceding a second penalty while trailing 1-0. Boakye Ansah cited both safety issues and questionable officiating as reasons for their decision.
In an interview with Luv FM, he expressed disappointment with Basake's conduct. He specifically criticized the head of the Western Regional Association, who owns Basake.
Boakye Ansah noted that this individual arrived in a GFA-donated pick-up truck. He claimed this same vehicle was used to bring armed men into the stadium on two occasions. The safety officer from Nations FC spotted these men carrying weapons.
As a result, they felt it was unsafe to continue playing. The GFA has announced that it is investigating this incident further.
