OFFICIAL: German-born Ghanaian centre-back Maxwell Gyamfi seals FC Kaiserslautern move

Maxwell Gyamfi, a 25-year-old defender of Ghanaian descent, has signed with FC Kaiserslautern. The German 2. Bundesliga team announced his move from VfL Osnabrück. Gyamfi joins on a free transfer ahead of the 2025-26 season.

The club stated, "FC Kaiserslautern has secured Maxwell Gyamfi's services." He is moving from the third division to the Palatinate region. The length of his contract remains undisclosed.

After signing, Gyamfi expressed excitement about joining FCK. He said, "FCK is a big name in German football." He believes this move will help him develop further in his career. He has followed the club's progress and looks forward to contributing to its success.

Sporting director Marcel Klos shared his enthusiasm for Gyamfi's signing. He noted that last season, Gyamfi was one of the top players in the third division. Klos highlighted Gyamfi's speed and work ethic as valuable assets for their team.

In the recent 2024-25 season, Gyamfi played in 33 matches for VfL Osnabrück. Due to his Ghanaian heritage, he remains eligible to play for Ghana internationally. He has not yet been cap-tied by Germany’s national team.
