Ghanaian defender Joshua Quarshie has completed his transfer to Southampton.
Southampton, recently relegated from the Premier League, signed him on a four-year deal. He joins from TSG Hoffenheim in Germany's Bundesliga.
Quarshie spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at SpVgg Greuther Fürth. Now, he is heading to England to play for Southampton.
The club announced his signing with excitement. "We are delighted to secure Joshua Quarshie," they stated.
Quarshie is a Germany Under-20 international. He will officially join Southampton on July 1st. He is their first signing of the summer and the first under new manager Will Still.
After signing, Quarshie expressed his happiness. "Southampton is a big club with great history," he said.
He added that English football suits his playing style. "I’ve dreamed of playing in England since I was a kid," he noted.
Sporting director Johannes Spors praised Quarshie's talent and experience. He has played over 80 senior games already at just 20 years old.
Spors believes Quarshie's athleticism fits well with their new manager's style. The club aims to develop young players like him.
During his loan spell, Quarshie made 25 appearances for Greuther Fürth across all competitions.
Despite representing Germany at youth levels, he remains eligible to play for Ghana internationally due to his roots.
