Aberdeen FC has signed 20-year-old Emmanuel Gyamfi. He joins from Schalke 04, a team in Germany's second division. The club announced the deal during this summer transfer window.
Gyamfi previously played for VVV-Venlo in the Dutch Eredivisie. He spent the 2024-25 season there on loan. Now, he has moved to Aberdeen on a permanent basis.
The versatile left-back signed a four-year deal with Aberdeen. The fee for his transfer remains undisclosed and is subject to clearance and visa formalities. Gyamfi developed through Schalke's academy, where he was considered a top prospect.
He expressed excitement about joining Aberdeen. "I’m really happy to be here," he said on the club's website. "My family is also happy, and I am ready to go."
Gyamfi plans to focus on pre-season training and work hard. "I will give my best to help the team," he added. He wants to show fans what he can do at this good club.
He enjoyed watching fan celebrations after winning the cup last season. "It motivates me to want to do it again," he noted about their passion for Aberdeen.
Playing in Europe is a dream for him. He acknowledges it can be challenging but believes they will be ready as a team after pre-season.
During his loan at VVV-Venlo, Gyamfi played in 31 games across all competitions. Despite being born in Germany, he can still choose to play for Ghana internationally since he hasn't been capped by Germany’s senior team yet.
