Preko: Hearts of Oak is spiritless

Ghanaian coach Yaw Preko believes the current Hearts of Oak team lacks spirit. This absence of team spirit is hurting their performance and goals.

Preko noted, "I played against Hearts of Oak while coaching Nsoatreman. The flair was not there." He added, "Something is missing, but I cannot pinpoint it." He found it difficult yet easy to play against them.

Hearts of Oak are having a tough season. They have slipped to sixth place in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League. They are also out of the FA Cup and trail first-placed Bibiani Gold Stars by eleven points.

"They look spiritless," Preko said. "Even when you are losing, you know you can rally back."

The Phobians will host rivals Asante Kotoko this Sunday. They have won only three of their last 11 matches across all competitions. One victory came against Medeama SC.
