Charles Allotey, a former Ghana U-17 World Cup winner, has criticized the Black Satellites. He is concerned about their mentality and drive after failing to qualify for the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile.
Ghana lost to Egypt in a penalty shootout, 5-4, after a 2-2 draw. Allotey reflected on the match and questioned the players' hunger for success. He noted their lack of aggression and fight during the game.
"They weren’t angry enough for the cup," Allotey said. "When you looked at their faces, you could tell they weren’t fighting." He also mentioned that Egypt's goals came from Ghana's mistakes.
Complacency was another major factor in their exit. Allotey believes the team underestimated Egypt based on previous performances.
"After we equalized, why not push for a third goal?" he asked. "They became complacent and assumed they would win." He emphasized that every team in a tournament is a threat.
Ghana's exit means they have not qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup since 2015.
