Unity Cup: “I wanted to face Jamaica in the final” - Black Stars striker Thomas-Asante

Brandon Thomas-Asante Frustrated by Missed Chance to Face Jamaica in Unity Cup Final

Brandon Thomas-Asante, a forward for the Black Stars, expressed disappointment after Ghana's exit from the 2025 Unity Cup. Ghana lost 2-1 to Nigeria in the semifinal on Wednesday night. The match took place at the Gtech Community Stadium in London.

Thomas-Asante came off the bench and scored Ghana’s only goal. His goal reduced Nigeria's lead after Cyriel Dessers and Razak Simpson had scored for Nigeria. Despite a strong second-half effort, Ghana could not complete the comeback.

After the match, Thomas-Asante shared his personal frustration. He mentioned his Jamaican heritage and wished to face Jamaica in the final. "I’m a little bit frustrated because I’m Jamaican as well," he said.

Looking ahead, Thomas-Asante is focused on finishing strong against Trinidad and Tobago. "We go out there with the same attitude — try to win," he added.

Ghana will play Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place match on Saturday, May 31. The kickoff is scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
