Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has issued a warning. He is concerned about violence at domestic football matches. If this trend continues, fans may turn to foreign leagues.
The Minister stressed the need for calm and professionalism in local football. He said, “If we allow such things to continue, 90 percent of fans will focus on foreign leagues.” He emphasized that wrongdoers must be punished, regardless of their status or political ties.
His comments follow recent incidents of crowd trouble and assaults on officials. Vandalism at stadiums has also raised safety concerns for players and fans.
The Minister pointed out that government investment in sports could be wasted if chaos persists. For local football to thrive, it must first ensure safety for everyone involved.
