Ghanaian coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu is calling for more trust in local coaches. He believes homegrown talent can lead clubs and national teams to success.
In a recent interview with Citi Sports, Osei-Fosu emphasized the need for stakeholders to hire local coaches. He highlighted their knowledge, tactical skills, and passion for the game. “We have the men in Ghana,” he said. “Given the right opportunity, they can work.”
Osei-Fosu has a reputation for his analytical approach and bold opinions. He noted that many local coaches have achieved impressive results in the Ghana Premier League. They have also helped discover top talents but are often overlooked for foreign coaches.
He pointed out that no foreign coach has won anything significant for Ghana. “If we go by history, local coaches should be given a chance,” he stated. His comments reflect growing frustration over the Black Stars' performance and reliance on expatriate coaches.
Many fans and pundits support Osei-Fosu’s views. They see it as a wake-up call for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and club owners to promote local talent. As Ghana seeks a clear football identity, Osei-Fosu's message is clear: “Trust our own. We have what it takes.”
