Two Electoral Commission (EC) officials were hospitalized after collapsing at the Okaikoi North Collation Centre in Greater Accra due to exposure to pepper spray during a chaotic incident on Monday evening.

The unrest began when NDC and NPP supporters stormed the center amid allegations of attempted vote-rigging involving parliamentary candidates.

Tensions escalated as party members clashed while trying to safeguard the votes.

Police deployed pepper spray to control the crowd, inadvertently affecting the EC officials. Although initially stable, their condition worsened, leading to their collapse.

They were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

This incident highlights the volatile atmosphere at collation centers as election tensions run high.
