Professor Ransford Gyampo and MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa have criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo over the stalled National Cathedral project.
Gyampo accused the president of squandering public trust, while Ablakwa claimed Akufo-Addo deceived clergy members on the project’s viability.
Ablakwa called for Akufo-Addo to repay $58 million spent on the project and urged an end to salaries for the Cathedral’s Board, given its 38-month halt. He condemned the $312 million contract with Ribade Company Ltd, which a CHRAJ report deemed illegal due to procurement violations.
CHRAJ also recommended canceling the contract and investigating potential prosecution of the project’s trustees.
Public outrage has grown over alleged mismanagement of taxpayer funds for the ambitious but incomplete cathedral.
