The NDC Vice Presidential Candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has criticized the government for refurbishing old schools and presenting them as new projects.
Speaking in Kpetinga, Gushiegu Constituency, during her Northern Region campaign, she questioned the government’s commitment to quality education.
She highlighted that under the Mahama administration, commissioned schools were fully equipped with stocked libraries, furnished classrooms, computers, and assigned teachers.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang called on the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government to disclose the actual number of schools it has completed, arguing that repainting facilities from the previous administration is misleading.
She also criticized the NPP government for failing to sustain educational interventions such as free sandals and textbooks initiated under Mahama.
Urging voters to support John Dramani Mahama in December’s elections, she promised a reset to address challenges in the education sector.
