Reports suggest the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have deployed 12 snipers from the 64th Infantry Battalion to key regions ahead of the December 7 elections, allegedly to intimidate voters.
Army Commander Major General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona is reportedly behind the operation, despite a GAF directive banning soldiers from polling stations to ensure peaceful voting.
A viral video shows the snipers, masked and in uniform, stranded at Kotoka International Airport with weapons.
Observers question why they weren’t transported via military aircraft, raising concerns about the mission’s legitimacy.
The operation, allegedly led by Lt. Col. Minta-Agyemang, includes reports of plans to disrupt polling stations with gunfire.
GAF has reiterated its commitment to peaceful elections, urging citizens to report suspicious military activity and cooperate with security forces to maintain order.
