A group of aggrieved Menzgold customers has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to provide economic relief or risk electoral rejection next week.
The group is demanding a GHS200 million bailout from the government, suggesting that seized assets of the defunct gold dealership firm could be used as collateral.
Fred Forson, the group’s convenor, highlighted the devastating toll on members, with over 230 deaths reported since the firm’s collapse in 2018.
"The seized assets can serve as a guarantee for the bailout," he emphasized.
The group has set a deadline for the government to respond by the end of the day. Menzgold customers have been unable to recover their deposits since the company’s shutdown.
