Former Attorney General Martin Amidu has accused the government of exploiting the ongoing Bawku conflict for electoral gains ahead of the December 2024 elections.
In a detailed article, Amidu claimed the October resurgence of the conflict was deliberately politicized to sway voters, criticizing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s management of the crisis in President Akufo-Addo's absence.
He described the government's approach as opaque, alleging that the lack of transparency has fueled misinformation.
Amidu highlighted an alleged arms shipment incident that escalated tensions, undermining trust in security forces.
He warned that the conflict serves partisan interests, blaming the government for creating a "failure of human security" to benefit politically.
Amidu called for accountability from the President and Vice President, urging them to openly address the crisis and its impact on citizens' safety.
