British High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, has praised the Peace Pact signed by presidential candidates ahead of Ghana’s December 7 general elections, calling it a crucial step for safeguarding the country's democratic principles.
The pact, signed at a ceremony in Accra, commits candidates to maintaining peace throughout the electoral process.
Thompson highlighted the UK’s support for Ghana as a model of democracy in the region and expressed optimism for a peaceful, transparent, and inclusive election.
She also commended the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, including political parties, the Electoral Commission, and security forces, in ensuring a stable and democratic election process.
