The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has called on the National Peace Council to intervene and urge the Electoral Commission (EC) to expedite the declaration of results for the 2024 general elections.
His appeal follows rising tensions nationwide as citizens grow impatient awaiting the official results.
Addressing a press briefing, Asiedu Nketia emphasized that both the NDC and New Patriotic Party (NPP) have independently tallied results, with the NPP conceding defeat. He questioned the EC’s delay in declaring John Dramani Mahama the winner.
“The silence of the EC is becoming a threat to peace,” he warned, urging the Peace Council to hold the EC accountable.
He argued that peace requires justice and transparency, emphasizing the need for the EC to prioritize national stability by declaring the presidential results without further delay.
