The special voting exercise in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency on December 2 was generally smooth until NPP MP Lydia Alhassan distributed food packs to voters and Electoral Commission officials.
This act drew strong criticism from NDC parliamentary candidate John Dumelo, who accused her of breaking electoral rules and warned against such practices.
Despite the controversy, the election process across 14 of 16 regions saw high turnout with minor issues like missing names. In Ayawaso Central, both NPP and NDC reportedly shared breakfast with officials.
Meanwhile, special voting in the Eastern and Western Regions is delayed until December 5 due to ballot paper errors, with reprints underway to address the mishap.
