The High Court will today, January 4, 2025, deliver its ruling on the NPP's mandamus application regarding results collation in Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North.
The court previously dismissed an NDC objection questioning its jurisdiction.
The NPP, led by lawyer Gary Nimako, argued that the Electoral Commission (EC) must complete the collation of results, claiming delays since December 8, 2024, violate constituents' rights.
The EC acknowledged incomplete collation and supported the NPP’s request, warning against setting dangerous precedents.
However, the NDC, represented by Godwin Tameklo, argued that a declaration had been made in Tema Central, referencing video evidence, and maintained that a petition, not a mandamus, was the proper remedy.
The ruling is expected to clarify the EC's obligations and procedures for addressing electoral disputes.
